problem
AI agents can build an interface in seconds, but left on their own they invent components, drift on spacing and forget accessibility. Most design systems are documented for people, so agents guess.
approach

- Plain HTML, CSS tokens and small ES modules, with no required framework or build step. The code stays readable for people and predictable for agents.
- contracts
- An AGENTS.md, a components.json manifest and AI docs tell agents what exists and how to use it, so they reuse components instead of inventing new ones.
- checks
- Native Rust tooling builds and verifies sites. Themes are checked for contrast, and the build fails when text drops below 4.5:1.
- frameworks
- Tested Button, Input, Dialog and Theme paths for React, Next.js, Vue, Nuxt, Angular, Svelte and Astro.
result
Layout UI is live at layoutui.com, with docs for people and an AI guide for agents. Sites build with the native layout tool, locally or from a downloadable release in CI.
